Quick Start

Get up and running with Owlfy in just a few minutes.

Download and install Owlfy for your platform:

  • Windows — Download the installer from owlfy.com
  • macOS — Download the .dmg and drag Owlfy to Applications
  • Linux — Download the AppImage or use the provided package

Owlfy needs certain system permissions to function properly. You will be prompted to grant them on first launch:

macOS Users: Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security to manually grant permissions if the auto-prompt fails.

The voice key is the core of Owlfy. Choose how you want to trigger it:

Default Voice Keys:

  • Windows: Right Alt key or Mouse wheel
  • macOS: Fn key or Mouse wheel

To customize:

  1. Open Owlfy Settings
  2. Go to General → Keyboard Voice Key
  3. Press the key you want to use

You can also enable Mouse Wheel as Voice Key in Settings for click/hold/double-click operations.

  1. Click the voice key
  2. Say: “Hello world”
  3. Click again to end
  4. The text appears at your cursor position
  1. Select some text on your screen
  2. Hold the voice key and say: “Make this shorter”
  3. Release the voice key
  4. AI processes the text instantly
  1. Hold the voice key
  2. Say: “What’s the weather like in New York?”
  3. Release the voice key
  4. AI Assistant fetches and displays the weather

When speaking is not convenient:

  1. Press Option + Space (macOS) or Ctrl + Space (Windows)
  2. Type your request, e.g., “Open Chrome”
  3. Press Enter
  4. Owlfy executes the task
